Vehicle parades promise excitement

On Tuesday, a spokesperson for Sun Group – the organiser of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2018, revealed that this year’s event will feature the parades of 12 eye-catching flower-decorated vehicles representing the 8 participating countries.

The vehicles will be decorated with such symbols of the participating countries as their landscapes, historical sites, religions, cultural identities, and beautiful bridges.

In particular, the vehicle of Viet Nam will feature the re-creation of the 2,290m-long Long Bien Bridge with 19 steel girders placed on 20 piers spanning the Red River in Ha Noi. This bridge stands out as inseparable symbol of the country’s capital city.

The vehicle of Poland will be decorated with the Świętokrzyski Bridge over the Vistula River in Warsaw, whilst that of France will feature the re-creation of the Tournelle Bridge built in 1928 spanning the Seine River in Paris.

In addition, the vehicle of the US will impress locals and visitors by the beauty of the Brooklyn Bridge. Completed in 1883, it is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the US, and the first steel-wire suspension bridge in the world.

The vehicle of Italy will be decorated with the Rialto spanning the Grand Canal in Venice, whilst that of Sweden will feature the re-creation of the Oresund Bridge – an approximately 16 km long road and rail link between Sweden and Denmark.

As for Hong Kong (China), its vehicle will introduce audience members to the 1,377m-long and 206m-high Tsing Ma Bridge – the longest car and rail suspension bridge in the world.

Meanwhile, local residents and visitors will be impressed by the vehicle of Portugal, which re-creates the 2,278m-long 25 de Abril Bridge. Inaugurated in August 1966, the beautiful bridge serves both road and rail traffic.

The remaining 4 vehicles will represent for Da Nang with each of them respectively features the re-creations of the city’s bridges, namely Han River, Rong (Dragon), Tran Thi Ly, and Thuan Phuoc. These bridges boast their own architectural styles, and all of them express the city’s strong aspiration for further development.
