Ready for the Viet Nam – UK Football Festival in Da Nang

Da Nang is gearing up for the Viet Nam – UK Football Festival themed “The Red Dream”, scheduled to take place from June 26 to 29. Accordingly, preparations are being carried out at full speed from infrastructure upgrades to pitch maintenance and event logistics.

The 20,000-seat Hoa Xuan Stadium is undergoing meticulous renovations to ensure both quality and aesthetics in preparation for the Viet Nam–UK Football Festival.

As recorded by our reporter on June 9, the Hoa Xuan Stadium in Cam Le District, which is set to host the main events of the Viet Nam – UK Football Festival, is undergoing final touch-ups in preparation for the festivities. Workers focused on reconditioning the pitch, from replanting grass and rolling the turf to repainting field markings, ensuring the stadium is in top condition to host the highly anticipated friendly match between the Vietnamese stars and the Manchester Reds.

The match will feature legendary former Manchester United players including Michael Owen, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Teddy Sheringham, and Wes Brown, who will meet with celebrated Vietnamese footballers such as Le Huynh Duc, Nguyen Hong Son, goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung, and defender Duy Manh.

With a seating capacity of 20,000, the Hoa Xuan Stadium is undergoing careful upgrades to meet both quality and aesthetic standards in anticipation of the international event.

According to the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Da Nang has leveraged its favourable conditions in recent years to host numerous large-scale sporting events that have drawn significant participation from domestic and international athletes. These events have greatly contributed to the city’s tourism development and enhanced its image as a vibrant, event-focused destination.

The current preparations underscore Da Nang’s positioning not only as a “city of events” but also as a must-visit destination for both local and international visitors. The city’s sports sector remains committed to supporting and facilitating major sporting events, further solidifying them as a signature part of Da Nang’s brand.

Contractors are now racing to complete the stadium renovation project.

Upgraded infrastructure at the Hoa Xuan Stadium will also help accommodate future sports events in the city.

According to organizers, the upcoming match is not only expected to deliver high-quality football, but will also feature live performances and fan engagement activities, recreating the thrilling atmosphere of an international football festival right in Viet Nam. The participating football legends will help promote the image of Da Nang, Viet Nam’s beautiful coastal city, to the world.

Blending football with music and cultural exchange, this year’s festival promises a unique and memorable experience for attendees. It will also offer a valuable opportunity to foster stronger tourism and sports connections between Viet Nam and the UK, laying the groundwork for Da Nang to develop as a destination for international sports tourism in the future.
