Secretary Le Ngoc Quang warmly welcomed Ambassador ITO Naoki and thanked the Government of Japan and its diplomatic missions for their continued support for Da Nang. He highly appreciated the strong cooperation between Da Nang and Japanese localities, noting that Japan remains the city’s leading foreign investor with many highly effective projects.

Japan is also one of Da Nang’s key tourism markets, with 239,000 visitors recorded in the first nine months of 2025. Two direct air routes currently operate 11 flights per week, promoting cultural, trade, and tourism exchanges. Collaboration in science, education, and culture has also deepened through frequent Vietnam – Japan exchange programmes.

Secretary Le Ngoc Quang emphasised that the upgraded Vietnam -Japan partnership and new policy frameworks have created strong momentum for expanding cooperation, particularly in investment, tourism, and culture.

He also provided updates on the merger of Da Nang and Quang Nam on July 1, 2025, which formed a new city covering nearly 12,000km2 with a population of over three million. The new city is home to two international airports, four seaports, and two UNESCO World Heritage sites.

With special government mechanisms supporting an International Financial Center, a Free Trade Zone, and a High-Tech Hub, Da Nang is accelerating administrative reforms and improving its investment climate to attract major investors in services and high-tech industries.

Secretary Le Ngoc Quang highlighted Da Nang’s key economic sectors, including logistics, high-tech industries, information technology, and high-tech agriculture, and invited Japanese enterprises to invest in the city’s Free Trade Zone and International Financial Center.

He also called on Ambassador ITO Naoki to continue promoting cooperation in culture, education, and tourism between Da Nang and Japanese localities.
