Address: Located in Thanh Khe Dong Ward, Thanh Khe District, Da Nang City
Mother Nhu's real name is Le Thi Danh, born in 1912. Since 1967, in her own home (Thanh Khe Dong ward, Thanh Khe district), Mother Nhu built a secret bunker in the house to hide officers and revolutionary cadres and soldiers. This place has become an important location in the key strategic triangle area of An Khe - Phu Loc - Thanh Ha Khe of the revolutionary movement of District II - Da Nang city in the resistance war against the US and to save the country. On December 26, 1968, when surrounded by the enemy, Mother Nhu and the commando soldiers of the Second District cunningly and tenaciously fought, defeating the enemy's plot to destroy the revolutionary forces, demonstrating their bravery, loyalty and sacrifice for the Fatherland. Mother Nhu's noble dedication and sacrifice for the revolution was recognized by the Party and State and posthumously awarded many noble titles, especially the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces in 1995.
After 1975, the relics of Mother Nhu's House were still preserved. In 2009, it was restored and renovated by the State to be spacious, clean and beautiful and is a place to display documents and artifacts about the life and glorious victories of Mother Nhu and the seven Thanh Khe heroes.
Sculptor Pham Van Hang created the statue of Mother Nhu by assembling thousands of American bronze cannonballs. The massive statue of the heroic mother, more than ten meters tall, facing the Da Nang seaport, waving her hand to command “go forward”, is placed on Dien Bien Phu Avenue leading to the city center.
The location of Mother Nhu's House and seven Thanh Khe heroes is ranked as a National historical relic according to Decision No. 4699/QD-BVHTTDL dated December 18, 2009.
