As of September 2020, Da Nang had attracted a combined total of 590 million US$ worth of 67 projects which are either completely developed by only US investors or their joint ventures with Da Nang-based partners in Da Nang
Of special note, Vice Chairman Mien thanked USAID for choosing Da Nang to carry out an urban energy security technical assistance project.
Financed with non-refundable ODA worth nearly 2.8 million USD by this globally renowned agency, the project aims to assist Da Nang in boosting its policy environment improvement, and promoting the application of innovative and breakthrough technologies, practices, investment models into implementing advanced and distributed energy solutions.
Like other provinces and cities in Central Viet Nam, Da Nang has felt the destructive effects of natural disasters and the economic and social impact of coronavirus pandemic. These unfavourable facts prompt this city to seek even more support from USAID to implement many other collaboration projects in the coming time.
Previously, USAID also cooperated with the Vietnamese Ministry of Defence to carry out the environmental remediation of dioxin contamination at the Da Nang International Airport. The world's premier international development agency funded a comprehensive and integrated programme to assist people with disabilities in Da Nang for the 2013-2015 period.
Ms Ann Marie Yastishock expressed her delight at the fact that Da Nang's development orientations are very consistent with USAID's cooperation and development strategies. She hoped that an urban energy security technical assistance project will be put into operation as soon as possible.
In related news, also on Tuesday, during his meeting with French Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City Vincent Floreani, Vice Chairman Mien highly praised French projects in Da Nang, especially those in education and culture, marking new positive strides in bilateral relations between Viet Nam and this advanced European country.
The host pledged Da Nang’s willingness to create the most favourable possible conditions for French businesses to seek investment opportunities in the city, and continue to use loans from the French Development Agency (AFD) to implement projects in such aspects as smart city building, environmental protection, climate change, education and social housing.
Mr Vincent Floreani highly lauded Da Nang for maintaining the operation of French language courses in some schools and the performance of the French Institute in Da Nang, hereby helping to leverage the cooperative ties and exchanges between the city and France, and between the two countries at large.
