At a meeting in Ottawa, Minister Lawrence MacAulay asserted that the Canadian Government regards Asia-Pacific as a priority region in terms of trade.

He said Canada expects to expand access to markets for its farm produce through promoting global trade partnerships.

The Canadian Minister, who will be accompanied by business representatives operating in agriculture and aquatic sectors, is expected to meet with Vietnamese and Indian counterparts to discuss ways to beef up bilateral cooperation.

Canada’s agricultural and aquatic exports to Viet Nam and India reached US$187 million and US$1.2 billion last year.
