Da Nang strengthens connectivity with global financial chain

On Monday, the Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland, in collaboration with the Swiss-Viet Nam Economic Forum (SVEF), held the Viet Nam – Switzerland Economic Forum 2025 in a hybrid format.

In his remarks at the second session with the theme “Viet Nam as an emerging international financial centre”, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Finance Dang Dinh Duc said that, as the economic, political and cultural centre of Central Viet Nam, Da Nang not only played a strategic role in terms of geographical location and economy, but was also a coastal city with a particularly important position in the country’s development axis.

He added the city boasted developed and connected infrastructure, including Lien Chieu deep-water port, an expanding international airport, Da Nang High-Tech Park, a newly established Free Trade Zone, high-quality human resources, and favourable living and working conditions. These were all closely related factors that determine the success of forming a commercial, financial and innovation ecosystem.

The Viet Nam International Financial Centre in Da Nang will focus on such specialised aspects as green finance, and trade finance serving small and medium-sized enterprises and innovative enterprises. Also, importance will be attached to controlled testing of a number of new models such as digital assets, digital currency and digital payments, as well as attracting investment funds, remittance funds, small and medium-sized fund management companies. The centre will also promote startup projects offering financial solutions for consumer lifestyles, tourism, commerce, and logistics; and support related legal advisory and service development activities.

The Swiss-Viet Nam Economic Forum 2025 concentrated on sharing knowledge, connecting academic research experts and exploring solutions on sustainability and digital transformation. The purpose was to help Vietnamese and Swiss businesses exchange cooperation potential in trade – investment, education – training, culture – tourism, finance, development of artificial intelligence and semiconductor chips.
