A group of students from the Da Nang University of Science and Technology has won the ‘Best Project Presentation’prize, one of the three prizes in the Ho Chi Minh City-held eProjects Innovation Showcase 2020 for their ‘Smart Water Trash’ project.

The project has come up with a solution to pick up plastic waste, automatically check water quality and considerably save fuel. This is an interdisciplinary scientific and technological research product involved in the aspects of mechanical engineering, automation control, and information technology.
The project is developed by 4 students, namely Le Truong Lam and Truong Le Loi, both of whom are from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Trinh Thanh Phu from Faculty of Information Technology, and Nguyen Hung Thinh from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.
The remaining two prizes in the contest were awarded to the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology for its ‘The Most Effective solution’ and ‘The Most Effective Teamwork’ projects
The eProjects-2020 Innovation Showcase was co-hosted by the United States Agency for International Development, the University-Industry Learning and Development through Innovation and Technology (BUILD-IT) Alliance, and the Dow Viet Nam STEM Programme.
The participating teams were required to develop their own prototypes through regular consultation with Dow Viet Nam mentors. These professional mentors were in charge of reviewing each team’s progress, sharing their technical expertise, and supporting the building of prototypes.
All the entries focused on sustainability, recycling, and warehouse management challenges. Since March, the participating teams have been working online and on campus to build and test their prototypes.
The contest offered the chance for contestants to enhance their skills in technical design, communication, team work, and project management.
