Da Nang to announce Prime Minister’s decision on establishment of Free Trade Zone on Jun 22

A ceremony will be held in Da Nang on the morning of June 22 to announce the Prime Minister’s decision on the establishment of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, with about 600 delegates expected to attend.

The event will feature the announcement of Decision No. 1142/QD-TTg dated June 13, 2025 of the Prime Minister on the establishment of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, the planned locations of the free trade zone, priority investment aspects, preferential policies for investors, and plans and an investment roadmap for the zone.

The signing of Memoranda of Understanding between the city and interested investors, and a Memorandum of Understanding between the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Viet Nam (BIDV) and the Customs Sub-Department of Region XII on supporting the development of smart customs monitoring application solutions, will be held.

The event attendees will be leaders of the National Assembly, the Central Government, some central ministries and branches, centrally-governed cities and some neighbouring localities; leaders and former leaders of Da Nang; and representatives of numerous enterprises.

The event will also feature a number of sideline activities, such as field surveys of locations forming the Da Nang Free Trade Zone and Lien Chieu Port (right after the announcement ceremony); and an exhibition displaying planning, information, and images related to the Da Nang Free Trade Zone (about 3-5 days during and after the announcement ceremony).

Previously, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh signed Decision No. 1142/QD-TTg dated June 13, 2025 on the establishment of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone with an area of about 1,881 hectares. Located in 7 non-contiguous locations, the zone will comprise such functional areas as production, logistics; trade – services; digital technology industry, information technology and innovation; and other types of functional areas according to the provisions of law.

The Da Nang Free Trade Zone is planned with modern infrastructure. It eyes to becoming a regional economic centre, playing the role of a strategic growth pole of the central region and the whole country in the new development context.

The long-term vision is for the Da Nang Free Trade Zone to become a vital link in the global and Asia-Pacific region supply chain, and a center for manufacturing and international goods transit, connected to Lien Chieu Port, Da Nang International Airport, and the East – West Economic Corridor. It will greatly contribute to promoting the development of high-tech industry, innovation and digital transformation, as well as play a key role in restructuring the local economy following the merger of Da Nang and Quang Nam, in a sustainable and globally integrated manner.

The development of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone will be closely linked with the international financial centre in the city, forming a modern, smart, highly competitive economic ecosystem that contributes to enhancing Viet Nam’s position in the region and global in the context of globalisation.
