Mr Phan Thanh Toai, the Head of the municipal Diving and Swimming Club, said during the nationwide social distancing period, local swimmers got non-pool swimming workouts in order to build muscle and boost their performance in the pool.

Mr Toai also remarked that since the national social distancing measures were eased on 23April, swimmers have got back to normal training programmes in preparation for forthcoming national and international sports competitions.

In particular, talented swimmer Hoang Quy Phuoc has built his core stability to enhance swimming performance, and broken some of his own previous records.

Young swimmer Nguyen Huu Kim Son has gained very optimistic results in the men’s 400m and 1,500m freestyle events. Meanwhile, young female swimmer Le Thi Nhu Quynh has made impressive progress.

Members of the city’s relay team, including Nguyen Ngoc Trai, Tran Dinh Thanh, Nguyen Van Tau, Nguyen Quoc Khai Hoan, Phan Hoang Nhat Linh and Hoang Quy Phuoc, have shown their amazing progress during the recent training courses in pools.

Mr Toai hopes that such local talented swimmers as Hoang Quy Phuoc, Nguyen Huu Kim Son and Le Thi Nhu Quynh will be sent to foreign countries for both short-term and long-term training courses to help them improve their performances in the pool and reduce risk of injury..
