Landslide warning along roads leading to Son Tra Peninsula

A landslide warning has been issued by Da Nang authorities as continued heavy downpours sparked fears of landslides along several roads leading to the Son Tra Peninsula.

Nearly two weeks of heavy rain in parts of Da Nang has caused landslides along roads leading to the Ho Sau (Deep Hole) area, the Vong Canh Hills, the Dong Dinh Museum, the Linh Ung Pagoda, the ‘Ho Xanh’ (Green Lake) tourist area and the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, all located on the Son Tra Peninsula.

Deputy Head of the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourism Beaches Phan Minh Hai said a clean-up operation at the heavily-affected sites is underway.

Also, warning signs have already been placed on these landsides-ravaged paths in order to ensure the ultimate safety of travellers, and avoid any unexpected incidents.

In the current context of erratic weather change and possible torrential rains in the coming days, locals and tourists, except for functional bodies, are advised not to go to the peninsula for safety reasons.

A volume of soil and stones have spilled out onto a road leading to the Son Tra Peninsula, threatening the safety of road users.
